21st June, 2020 – Few days back, Samsung launched its new phone, named as “Samsung Galaxy A21s” in India. Considering its features and price range, the device is quite impressive and this time Samsung has played a masterstroke.

Okay, now let’s talk about the specifications of the model :

Display – 6.5” HD+  Infinity O-display

Processor –Samsung Exynos 850 (Octa-core processor) built on 8nm technology

Battery – 5000 mAh battery (with 15 W fast charging support)


RAM & Internal Storage – It is available only in two variants

• 4GB + 64GB variant  &  • 6GB + 64GB variant

Cameras – • Quad camera setup (48MP primary + 8MP ultrawide + 2MP macro + 2MP depth sensing)
• Front camera – 13MP

Security – Face unlock + Fingerprint sensor


PRICE – • 4GB + 64GB variant -> ₹ 16,499
                • 6GB + 64GB variant -> ₹ 18,499

My Opinion – No doubt this is a great deal ! Really, this time Samsung has focused on the mid-range segments and played well. A power packed device with a great price, though if they had placed this device within the price range of  ₹ 13,000 – ₹ 15,000, it would have ruled the market from the launch day.

IIT-Gandhinagar team develops AI-based tool to detect COVID-19 using chest X-rays

Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Gandhinagar have developed an Artificial Intelligence-based(AI) deep learning tool for detection of COVID-19 from chest X-ray images. The online tool, which indicates the probability if a person is infected with COVID-19, can be used for quick preliminary diagnosis before the medical test. It is being tested by the Indian Institute of Public Health (IIPH) . The IIT researchers pooled the data of X-ray images of COVID-19 infected patients as well as healthy persons from different sources available on the internet.They trained a machine learning architecture using deep learning algorithms with these images. Krishna Prasad Miyapuram, the associate professor of cognitive science and computer science, who supervised the IIT project claimed that the tool outperforms other such high-tech devices available globally.
